Star Citizen patch 2.5.0, now live on the PTU as of August 25th, 2016, MISC Reliant Kore makes it's debut. The ship's introductory price is $65.00 USD and it's focus is light cargo hauling. Although this price will likely be subject to change at a later date, I wanted to see how the sale compares to the base model flight ready Freelancer. Why the Freelancer opposed to other ships? Simply put, the Freelancer is about as well rounded as it gets with all it's variant's stepping just a few tiers above the Reliant Kore in price at $115.00 USD. Additionally both ships have a max crew of 2 persons and I wanted the comparison to be manageable to the lone wolf of outer space.

In the comparison of the two ships we see the Freelancer weigh in it's $115.00 USD value with better cargo capacity, larger power source, max engine / primary thrust and max shields by a factor of 2. Where as on the Reliant Kore we see smaller maneuvering thrusters but more of them making the ship at least in theory, more maneuverable under closer quarter. In retrospect the cargo capacity on the Reliant Kore is 57.69% smaller, the max crew is equal, the max power plant is 40% smaller, and the max shield is 60% smaller while the introductory price of $65.00 USD is 56.52% cheaper then the Freelancer at $115.00 USD.

Although the current accuracy of the cargo capacity remains in question for the Reliant it's design focus is clear. I remain hopeful that the progression of the ship will stand true to the focus and intended purpose of the ship.

In my opinion this price is fair, even if the 2.5 flight ready cargo hold is in fact 30m3 and not 30scu The Reliant would make an excellent addition for a new citizen who doesn't have $100.00 + to spend and would still like a cargo hauler for personal use. It would also make a fine little ship for his and hers ship share or small groups of friends. If you you don't already have a personal transport ship or if you've been thinking about upgrading your Aurora class ship, now may be a perfect opportunity.

The Reliant is flight ready and playable in Star Citizen alpha 2.5, however the sale ends August 29th, 2016. If you're considering upgrading or making the Reliant a valued addition to your fleet you have until then, after which time you'll have to wait a while to see it up for sale again.
